Eleanor was married three times (a widower twice). Her first husband was George Emil Eggersgluess and they married on 3 July 1937. They had a daughter Janice Edith, born 10 November 1938. Sadly she died at four months on 22 March 1939. The cause of her death was not included in the obituary. Janice Edith was Eleanor's only child. Mrs. Edith Granger Hawkes and her daughter, Mrs. George Eggersgluess of Woodland, will spend several days together in San Francisco this week. They will visit Treasure Island and will also take part in the national convention of the League of American Pen Women.

Mrs. Edith Hawkes did not go to the snows but she spent the weekend in the snow, for three inches fell in Sacramento where she was enjoying a visit with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. George Eggersgluess. the unbroken stretches of snow reminded Mrs. Hawkes of the winters she spent in Chicago before coming to the Pacific coast. She returned to Santa Rosa yesterday afternoon.

According to the November1942 Smith Alumnae Quarterly, Edith was going to live with her daughter Eleanor (Address: Box 38, West Sacramento, CA). Eleanor was in State Civil Service and her husband (George) was in the army at that time.

Former Fulton Girl Going to Hospital

Mrs. G.E. Eggersgluess (Eleanor Hawkes) will enter Sutter Hospital in Sacramento today to undergo a major operation. According to word received here, the patient will be in hospital for ten days or longer. She is the daughter of Mrs. Edith Hawkes, former local resident, who lived in Fulton for many years before she came here, and who is now residing in Sacramento at 3248 Marshall Way, Sacramento 17, California.
